Abstract
463,738. Generating combustion products under pressure. ERREN, R. A. Oct. 22, 1935, No. 29188. [Class 51 (i)] [Also in Group XIII] Water is sprayed into an oxy-hydrogen flame in a direction transverse to its length from points spaced both circmnferentially and lengthwise. The flame from an oxy-hydrogen burner 4 which is ignited by a sparking plug or platinum wire 10 is surrounded by a coil 7 having jets or nozzles 9 directed towards the flame. The coil is closed at its upper end and at its lower end is connected to an outer coil 8 into which feedwater is forced preferably at about 30 atmos. pressure. A perforated supporting partition 11 separates the coils. More than one burner may be used each or all surrounded by a coil and additional burners may superheat the steam. Coil 8 may be replaced by a body of water or the casing may form a preheating jacket having nozzles 9 in its inner wall.
