Steam generation, methods of; heating by direct contact of steam. - To increase the steam output of a set of boilers 1 the whole or part of the steam from the boilers is used as " exciter " steam to generate fresh steam in a generator 5, in which steam is brought into direct contact with water in a number of chambers 6 and repeatedly s u p e rheated, as described in Specification 288,635. Water is injected into the chamber by a pump 13, and steam is supplied through a compressor 12.
