Abstract
404,870. Heating water by electricity SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON., Winterthur, Switzerland. June 20, 1933, No. 17548. Convention date, Dec. 23, 1932. [Class 39 (iii).] Installations comprising an electrically-heated boiler 1 and a steam regenerative accumulator 2 have a pump 9 which positively maintains circulation between the accumulator and the boiler. A pump 3 supplies feedwater to the accumulator and steam generated passes through a pipe 6 and nozzles 10 into the accumulator water space. Excess water delivered by the pump 9 is returned through a pipe 14. The boiler electrodes 8 may be adjustably screened by insulating tubes 17. Pump 9 is preferably arranged below both boiler and accumulator. A pipe 12 delivers sludge from the boiler to the accumulator which is desludged through a pipe 13.
