Abstract
287,902. Sturm, W. March 29, 1927, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors.-In carburettors of the type in which the float chamber air-space is connected with a main choke tube, and the fuel nozzle delivers into an auxiliary choke tube located in the main choke tube, means are provided toregulate the area of the air passage between the main choke tube and the mixing tube within which it is situated. The main choke tube c is situated at the side of the mixing tube a and is connected to the float chamber g by a conduit h. The space 1 between the choke and mixing tubes is controlled by a butterfly throttle valve 2. This valve may be pivoted out of centre and actuated by suction, being normally closed, or it may be actuated from and after a predetermined movement of the air throttle b through linkage 3 in which case the wings of the valve may be symmetrical. Fuel is supplied to the nozzle l in an auxiliary choke tube d through a conduit containing a constriction i and air may be admitted to this conduit through a conduit m having a constriction t and the mouth n of which is situated in the space 1. According to the position of the valve 2, the amount of air which enters the mouth n varies, and this variation exerts a correcting influence on the fuel flow.
