Abstract
315,224. Sturm, W. July 9, 1928, [Convention date]. Addition to 287,902. Spray carburettors.-The parent Specification describes a carburettor having an air throttle b, and in which a main choke tube c is connected by a duct h with the air space of a float chamber e, and surrounds an auxiliary choke tube d into which the fuel nozzle k discharges. The fuel passage has a branch m the mouth n of which opens into an auxiliary air passage 1 located at the side of the main choke tube c, and controlled by an automatic valve 2. According to the invention, the valve 2 is adapted to actuate means for controlling the fuel flow through the nozzle. The valve may actuate, through a gear wheel 4 and teeth, a coned valve 5 which, as the valve 2 opens, closes the mouth n, reduces the air flow through branch m, and increases the fuel supply. In a modification, the valve 5 is placed transversely of chamber 1, and is moved bv a forked extension of valve 2. In a further modification, Fig. 3, an extension 7 of valve 2 moves over the mouth n. In a further modification, the branch m is dispensed with, and the valve 2 actuates a needle valve in the nozzle k. In a still further modification, the branch m is again dispensed with, and the valve 2 actuates a shutter over the inlet end of choke tube d into which the nozzle k delivers at rightangles.
