Piston-rods.-A super-high pressure compressor comprises a piston 3 connected to the piston-rod 4 by a disconnectable coupling 11 so that the cylinder and piston may be removed as a unit after disconnecting the coupling. The piston packing 12 is held by a screw gland 13. The coupling 11 comprises a bayonet joint formed by lugs 29 on the coupling members 24, 27 which members are connected to the piston and rod by two part rings 25 in grooves 26.
