Abstract

285,061. List, H. Feb. 10, 1927, [Convention date]. Casings; charging and feeding.-A centrifugal clarifier for liquids has a hinged cover with feed and discharge passages provided in the hinge. The drum c is covered by the dome a which has eyes p engaging a spindle e, thus forming a hinge. One eye p has a seat for a cone valve f connected to a feed pipe g and communicating with a duct h in the dome. The other eye p has a passage 'q communicating between .the discharge pipe i and the duct k in the cover. A collecting channel is formed by an annular flange n in the dome. When the cover is down liquid is supplied through the pipe g, the valve f and, the duct h to the centre of the drum; the high speed of the drum causes the clarified liquid tobe thrown into the dome a where it runs behind the flange n and passes out through the duct k to the pipe i. When the cover is raised the duct h is removed from the port of the valve f so that the inlet for the liquid is closed.
