Compensating f o r wear; band. - Means for adjusting an internal - expanding brake comprises a block 14 having inclined grooves for receiving the inclined ends of the brake bands 7 and adapted to be moved by a bolt 22 to force the bands towards the drum. Lock nuts 28 hold the block in adjusted position. The bolt 22 is in threaded engagement with an opening 23 in the brake housing and is provided with a head 24 in engagement with a recess in the block and with flat surfaces 25 for engagement by an operating-tool. The opposite ends of the bands 7 are provided with offset portions 10 between which the operating cam 9 is arranged. Specification 111,598 is referred to.
