Blocks and the like acting on drums ; compensating for wear.-In brakes for motorvehicles &c., comprising blocks a, b expanded into contact with a drum e, adjustment for wear is effected by the interposition between the end of one or both of the blocks and the pivot pin c of a screwed shank h, which bears against the pin c and enters loosely into the block, adjustment being effected by a nut j formed with a locking notch or projection o. In modifications, the heads of the shanks h may encircle the pin c, or two shanks may project in opposite directions from a single split head encircling the pin. The adjusting-pieces may be arranged at the cam end d of the blocks.
