Abstract

281,696. Herminghaus & Co., Ges., and Wenz, K. Dec. 1, 1927. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Dec. 2, 1927]. Right to Patent relinquished. Yarns, treating with liquids. - The dyeing properties of cellulosic textile materials. natural or artificial, are varied by treatment with phosphorus oxychloride after a preliminary treatment with alkali of a concentration not exceeding 3 per cent. The alkali may be used in alcoholic or aqueous solution, and the phosphorus oxychloride may be employed in solution in an indifferent solvent or in the vapour phase. In an example, bleached cotton is treated with 3 per cent alcoholic caustic soda and then with a solution of phosphorus oxychloride in carbon tetrachloride. With artificial silk a 1.5 per cent alcoholic caustic soda solution is suitable. Specification 192,173 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) refers to the use of alkali of any concentration. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
