Abstract

Wash-resistant decorations simulating diestamp printing are produced on textile fabrics containing normally twisted yarns of vegetable origin by impregnating with a water-insoluble quick-drying varnish which is applied by printing, and then drying and treating with a shrinking-agent. The varnish is preferably one having a nitrocellulose basis, but solutions in organic solvents of other cellulose derivatives or natural or artificial resins may be employed, and alkali lyes, sulphuric or other inorganic acids, or solutions of salts such as zinc chloride, calcium thiocyanate, or the like can be used as the shrinking-agent. Differential dyeing effects can be produced by dyeing the treated fabrics with acetate artificial silk dyes or basic dyes without mordants. Specification 433,902 is referred to.
