Abstract

Fibres or foils of high molecular linear polyesters which have been modified in their dyeing properties by the action of chemically reacting substances as described in Specifications 855,546, 903,913 or 938,413 are dyed with disperse dyestuffs in an aqueous dyebath in the usual manner but without the addition of carriers, a neutral inorganic salt such as sodium chloride, magnesium sulphate, sodium sulphate or calcium chloride being added in portions to the dyebath during the process. Dyestuff absorption is improved when the dyebath is partially evaporated during the process. Deeper penetration of dyestuff is achieved when the dyed material is subjected to a dry heat treatment.
