Abstract

The affinity for dispersed acetate dyestuffs of filaments, yarns and fabrics of synthetic linear polyesters derived from glycols and terephthalic acid, is improved by treating the filaments, yarns or fabrics with an aqueous solution of lithium bromide. Preferably a saturated solution is used at 110 DEG to 160 DEG C. In an example, pieces of polyethylene terephthalate fabric are treated with a solution containing lithium bromide for times of 5, 10 and 20 minutes at temperatures of 140 DEG , 150 DEG and 160 DEG C., washed, and dyed with a dispersed dye, many of which are specified. The improvement in affinity was proportional to the time of treatment and to the temperature.
