Abstract

280,706. Douglas Motors, Ltd., and Pullin, C. G. Nov. 13, 1926. Force-feed lubricating; visible feeds. - In a lubricating system for motor-cycle engines wherein the whole of the lubricant passes through a single sight-feed indicator, the indicator 2 is mounted on or formed integral with the detachable cover 3 for the timing gears, so as to be visible readily to the driver, and such cover has formed in it a passage 11 connecting the indicator with the outlet of a mechanically-operated pump 8 mounted on the inside of the cover. The indicator comprises a glass-topped recess from which a pipe 7 or a passage in the cover leads to the engine, and is provided with an adjustable valve 12. The pump is supplied from the tank 4 through a pipe 13 and a passage 15 in the cover 3. The tank carries also a hand pump 16 discharging through a pipe 17 and a passage 18 in the cover 3 into the passage 11.
