Abstract

357,769. Force - feed lubricating. DOUGLAS MOTORS, Ltd., Douglas Works, Hanham Road, and DOUGLAS, J., Woodstock, both in Kingswood, Bristol. Sept. 22, 1930, No. 28241. [Class 12 (iii).] In an internal-combustion engine, oil supplied from a tank 2, Fig. 1, through a conduit 11 is delivered by a pump 12 through a conduit 13 to a sight-feed 14, from which it passes through a conduit 16 to a pump 17 delivering through a conduit 18 to the engine bearings, whence it drains into a sump connected through a conduit 21 to a pump 19 which returns it to the tank through a conduit 20. The sight-feed 14 is provided with regulating means 15. The three pumps are combined in a single structure having a stepped plunger 4, Fig. 2, rotated by worm gearing 6, 7, reciprocation being caused by the engagement of a pin 9 in a cam groove 8 in a collar 5 on the plunger.
