Abstract

278,177. Smith, A. B., and Smith, C. R. Oct. 5, 1926. Stationary mixers with rotary stirrers; rotary batch-mixers.-Mixing-apparatus for mixing sand with binding material, for kneading dough &c., comprises a pan provided with moving sweeps and fixed, or relatively moving, members by means of which the material is thrown about and squeezed in wedge-like pocbets. In the form shown, curved sweeps f are rotated in a fixed pan a, which is fitted with hollow projections h, the undersides of which are of gradually increasing radial width and are inclined so that as the sweeps rotate the material is squeezed. The sweeps are mounted on a shaft d fitted with a deflecting dome g, and the pan is furnished with a discharge opening in the base closed by a screwoperated door. The pan may be rotated and the sweeps held stationary, or the projections may rotate relatively to the sweeps.
