Abstract

227,724. Stubbs, R. C. June 24, 1924. Stationary batch-mixers with rotary stirrers.- Concrete or other plastic material is mixed by compressing the material in a closed container and agitating it in such a manner that the outer portion is moved in one direction, the inner portion being simultaneously moved in the opposite direction. The apparatus comprises a stationary drum 1 in which a stirrer comprising concentric helical blades 10, 11, of opposite pitch, are rotated by gearing 13, 14. The material is put under pressure by means of a spring or handoperated plunger 16, and the blades are eccentrically mounted on the shaft 12 so as to shake the material, which is charged and discharged through shuttered openings 2 and 3 respectively.
