Abstract

888,041. Mixers. AUGUST, P. April 5, 1960, No. 11963/60. Class 86. A mixer primarily for concrete comprises a stationary horizontal cylindrical mixing drum 1 having a shaft 2 carrying detachable stirrer paddles 3, 4 sweeping an outer mixing zone and paddles 12, 13 which together with helical stirrers 5, 6 sweep an inner mixing zone. The paddles 4, 13 and helix 5 convey the materials from right to left and the paddles 3, 12 and helix 6 from left to right. The helix 5 is longer than the helix 6 and proportionally narrower. The mixing zones overlap in the middle of the drum so that material is continuously transferred throughout the drum. The paddles are arranged in two sets in planes at right angles; they scrape the whole inner surface of the drum, the paddles 12, 13 scraping the end walls. Each paddle is carried on a tube 11 slipped over a rod 7 and secured in place by welding. The cylindrical drum 1 may be replaced by a double drum with two parallel shafts.
