Abstract
277,986. Kynoch, Ltd., (Assignees of Sundback-, G.). Sept,. 22, 1926, [Convention date]. Sliding-clasp fastenings have the elements secured to the faces of the. stringers instead, of the edges. In one form, stud elements 4 are secured to one stringer and socket elements 2 to the other, Fig. 2. The edges 5 of the stringers are corded and are secured to the outer sides of the elements by bending the edges 8. Tapes are secured similarly to the inner edges and sewn to the stringers. Alternatively the stringers may be secured to the inner edges and the tapes to the outer edges. The strips are fastened by passing the thumb and finger down the grooves 12, or by a slider 13 as shown in Fig. 2. Release is effected by spreading the stringers. Fig. 9 shows another type of slider for use when the strips are attached to two pieces of fabric to be secured substantially in line with each other. Figs. 10 and 13 show the device with another type of fastening elements and Fig. 15 a still further type. In these modifications, the elements on both strips are identical and arranged in staggered relation. Figs. 20 and 21 show a form with elements of the recess-and-projection type. These are secured to the corded edges by jaws 30. A still further form of the elements shown in Figs. 23 and 24 have stamped out lugs 37 and recesses 38 for effecting the mutual engagement of opposite elements. In a still further form, the stud members, Fig. 27, may be continuous, or both the stud member 46 and the socket 45, Fig. 28, may be continuous, in which case they are made of rubber. The slider may have a lug 48 for separating the stringers, Fig. 29. Specifications 12261/15 and 228,322 are referred to.
