Abstract

274,198. Applebey, M. P., and Carter, C. April 16, 1926. Sodium hypochlorite.-A solid, dry, and stable preparation of sodium hypochlorite is obtained by admixture of a strong solution or the melted crystals thereof with wholly or partially dehydrated trisodium phosphate. Alternately wholly or partially dehydrated salts which will form trisodium phosphate may be used, for instance disodium hydrogen phosphate may be used in the presence of caustic soda. The trisodium salt, in powdered form, ma.y be added to the hypochlorite solution or melted crystals at 30-35‹ C. with constant agitation, the pasty mass obtained being converted into pellets or blocks before it sets to a hard mass.
