510,911. Detergents; complex salts. GRIFFITHS LABORATORIES, Inc. April 21, 1938, No. 11976. Convention date, April 30, 1937. Drawings to Specification. [Classes 1 (iii) and 91] A stable alkaline detergent consists of a hydrated sodium phosphate and sodium carbonate complex salt made by mixing trisodium phosphate and a sodium carbonate compound containing less hydrogen than' sodium bicarbonate, in proportions of 0.5 to 1.8 phosphate groups per carbonate group and containing at least 45 per cent. of water, whereupon the mixture is dried forming a solid product containing 18 to 26 per cent. of water. In examples, sodium carbonate or sesqui carbonate hydrated or anhydrous, is mixed with trisodium phosphate and sufficient water to form a slurry. The mixture is heated to 200F., and then dried on a drum or in an evaporator pan at 300F. The resulting mass is broken up and dried to constant weight at 105C.
