550,020. Denture cleaning compositions ; disinfectants. LEVER BROS. & UNILEVER. Ltd., and THOMAS, R. June 16, 1941,'No. 7598. [Class 91] [Also in Group VI] A denture cleaning composition comprises in solid, and preferably in tablet, form an addition or association compound of trisodium phosphate with sodium hypochlorite in admixture with sodium pyrophosphate or sodium metaphosphate. The latter may be used together and may be replaced by the corresponding salts of other alkali metals including ammonium; the phosphate may be that of potassium. Perfuming, flavouring, such as American peppermint and colouring substances may be added. The tablets are preferably moulded with slightly convex surfaces and packed in airtight containers. The double compound may be prepared by mixing at 50‹C. a saturated solution of trisodium phosphate and a solution of sodium hypochorite containing about 10 to 14 per cent of available chlorine, the proportions of the two solutions being such that the crystals formed on cooling the mixed solution contain 1.6 to 3.0 per cent. of available chlorine.
