Abstract

274,008. Electric Furnace Co., Ltd., (Northrup, E. F.). April 26, 1927. Induction furnaces.-An induction furnace adapted to work under pressure or vacuum is provided with a pressure-tight surrounding wall constituted mainly by the induction coil 8 with sealing and insulating material 9 arranged between adjacent turns. The coil comprises a water-cooled tube flattened to the section shown to retain the material and is bolted between top and bottom plates 5, 6 and split-rings 14, 15. Electric supply conductors 12, 13 make connection with the coil at some distance from its ends. In Fig. 2<a> the coil comprises a flat metal strip 8<1> with insulating material 9<1>. In a further modification the coil is constructed as described in Specification 274,007.
