Abstract
241,256. Prytherch, W. E. April 3, 1925. Resistance grids.-The heating element M of a furnace is formed from a crucible by cutting away certain portions thereof as shown in the drawings, the element being connected to the mains by means of metal U-tubes bolted to the portions of the projecting pieces A, B which previously formed part of the bottom of the crucible. The U-tubes pass through holes in the parts A, B and metal plates C on either side thereof, and are provided with nuts F for coupling the cables thereto. A constant flow of water is maintained through the tubes. The slots in the heating element may be filled with alundum cement. The element is situated between inner and outer cylinders E, H of non-porous refractory material. Specification 222,008 is referred to.
