Transformers; condensers.-A tuning-unit for wireless receivers comprises a coil former or transformer 1, the windings 2, 2a being disposed in grooves and connected to plug-in terminal elements 5, and a variable condenser arranged on end of the former and connected in parallel with one of the windings. The condenser comprises sheets of foil 10 interleaved with sheets of mica 11 and pressed together to a variable extent by a screw adjusting device 12 working in a bridge piece 7 carried by posts 6, 6a projecting from the end of the former 1. Springs may be employed to ensure opening out of the plates on withdrawal of the adjusting screw, and where fine adjustment is desired, the adjusting device may be operated through pinions or worm gearing.
