Abstract

272,462. Ateliers Bariquand et Marre. June 11, 1926, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors.-In a multiple jet carburettor of the kind in which the nozzles are situated in air inlet passages brought into action in succession by a vertically-sliding suctionactuated valve, the mixture outlet passage 49, Fig. 1, is horizontal and the air inlet passages 8 radiate from the opposite side of the chamber 1 containing the suction-actuated valve 2, the axes of the passages 8 being parallel or inclined at only a small angle to the axis of the passage 49. The valve 2 is provided with an outlet port 50 always open to the passage 49, and with inlet ports 27 of varying length. A cap 5 closing the bottom of the mixing-chamber 1 is provided with an interchangeable plug 7 having an air inlet aperture therein to regulate the depression beneath the valve 2. The fuel nozzles are supplied from a common float chamber through a supply pipe 17 which is detachably secured in position by the cap 5. A slow-running nozzle is mounted on the pipe 17 and opens into a conduit having an outlet adjacent the throttle valve 20. Secondary air is admitted to the passages 8 through passages 42 controlled by a hand-operated pivoted plate provided with ports 39. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also a modification having a vertical mixture outlet passage, the fuel nozzles 13 - - 16, Figs. 1 and 2 (Cancelled), opening into air inlet passages 8 - - 11, the outlets of which are arranged symmetrically around the mixing-chamber 1. The ported ring 39 controlling the admission of secondary air to the passages 42 is provided with a shutter 43 adapted to close the passage 8 at starting to increase the suction on the nozzle 13. The mixing-chamber 1 may be provided with other series of nozzles and air inlet passages arranged at different levels, each series being supplied with fuel from a separate float chamber. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
