Abstract

266,035. Porter, O. W. L. Nov. 13, 1925. Take-up motions. - In a loom wherein the take-up roll 1 is driven at a speed which diminishes as the quantity of cloth on the roll increases, the driving is effected by friction ratchet mechanism of the " free wheel " type and means are provided for adjusting the rate of take-up. As shown, the roll 1 is driven through a worm and worm wheel 4, 3, a " free wheel " clutch 6, levers 9, 13, and rods 8. 12, 14. The rod 12 carries a block sliding in a slot 19 in the lever 9 and is adjusted according to the quantity of cloth on the roll 1 by a link 20 and lever 21. The lever 13 is suspended by a link 17 and is oscillated by an eccentric on the main shaft 15 about a pivot 25, which can be adjusted by means of the screw 27 to vary the rate of take-up. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 1834/78, 15805/86, 16212/89, 16872/89, and 27056/11.
