3 Claims.
This invention relates to an automatic control for the let-off mechanism of looms, and the like, and has for one of its objects the production of a simple and efiicient means for automatically shifting the position of a weight upon the tension control lever to maintain a substantially uniform tension upon the warp which is carried by the beam of a loom.
A further object of this invention is'the pro-.
duction of a simple and efficient leverage arrangement and weight-shifting means for use in conjunction with the beam of a loom and the warp carried thereby for maintaining a substantially uniform tension upon the warp.
The present application constitutes a division of my previous application relating to Automatic let-off control, filed March 2, 1943, Serial Number 477,743.
Other objects and advantages of the present invention will appear throughout the following specification and claims.
.In the drawing Figure 1 is a side elevational View of the structure embodying the present invention;
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view taken on line 2-2 of Figure 1;
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on line 33 of Figure 1.
By referring to the drawing, it will be seen that IIJ designates the usual frame which supports a beam II of a suitable type. The beam supports the warp I2 and also carries a brake band l3, the speed of rotation of which is controlled by a brake band I4. The band I4 is anchored at one end to the frame ID, a at I5, and is secured at its opposite end, as at Hi, to the brake lever I1, which lever I! is pivoted, a at I 8, to the frame I0.
A control arm I9 is pivoted, as at 2D, to the outer end of the brake lever ll as shown in Figure 1, and this arm I9 carries a warp-contacting roller 2| at its upper end for contacting with the warp which is wound on the beam II. The lower end of the control arm l9 carries a roller 22 which contacts with the upper face of the outer end of the weight lever 23, and this weight lever 23 is pivotally connected, as at 24, to the fram II]. A drum -25 is also carried near the lower end of the lever I9, and a flexible cable 26 passes over end, as at 2'! to the frame It, and is connected at its opposite end to the slidable weight carriage 28. Ihe carriage 28 is slidably mounted upon the lever 23 and carries a pair of rollers 29 which travel upon the upper face of the lever 23 to'facilitate movement.
As the warp is unwound from the'beam I I, the roller 2| will be forced against the warp by the weight and. leverage associated therewith and the lever I9 will swing inwardly toward the beam II in proportion to the amount of warp unwound therefrom. This movement will cause the roller 22 at the lower end of the lever I9 to move outwardly toward the adjacent end of the weight lever 23. This movement will cause the cable 26 I to pull the sliding carriage 28 inwardly and conthis drum 25. The cable 26 i anchored at one sequently reduce the tension pull on the brake lever I1 and band I4, in ratio to the amount of warp which has been unwound from the beam I I.
Having described the invention, what I claim as new is: V
1. An automatic let-off control of the class described comprising a let-01f mechanism, a beam forming part of said mechanism, a warp wound upon the beam, a brake drum carried by the beam,
a brake band passing over the drum, a brake lever mounted adjacent the drum, the brake band engaging one end of the brake lever, a pivot sup-- porting the brake lever, a warp-engaging arm pivoted to one end of said brake lever, a weight lever, a weight carriage slidable on the Weight lever, one end of the warp-engaging arm engaging one end of said Weight lever,and a flexible connection between the warp-engaging arm and the weight carriage for drawing the weight carriage inwardly of said weight lever asthe warp-engaging arm is swung.

An automatic let-off control of the class described comprising a let-off mechanism, a beam forming part of said mechanism, a warp wound upon the beam, a brake drum carried by the beam, a brake band passing over the drum, a brake lever mounted adjacent the drum, the brake band engaging one end of the brake lever, a pivot supporting the brake lever, a warp-engaging arm pivoted to one end of said brake lever, a tension lever, and means controlled by the warp-engaging arm for regulating the tension pull of the tension lever upon the brake lever and brake band to maintain a substantially uniform tension upon the warp in ratio to the amount of warp unwound from the beam,

An automatic let-off control of the class described comprising a let-ofi mechanism, a beam forming part of said mechanism, a warp wound upon the beam, a brak drum carried by the beam, a brake band passing over the drum, a brake lever mounted adjacent the drum, the brake band enaging one end of the brake lever, a pivot sup porting the brake lever, a warp-engaging arm pivoted to one end of said brake lever, a. weight carried by the weight lever, and means controlled by the warp-engaging lever for shifting said weight 7
