Abstract

264,261. Harrison, W. Oct. 24, 1925. Yarns and threads, treating with liquids. - Yarns, threads, &c. composed of cellulosic material are converted either partly or completely into an insoluble or partly insoluble xanthogenate by treatment with caustic alkali and carbon disulphide, and the xanthogenate is then oxidized by treatment with nitrogen trioxide or tetroxide, or with nitrous acid, or with a nitrite, in the presence of weak acids such as acetic acid.
