Abstract

262,344. Kingsland, W., and Sturdy, E. T. June 26, 1926. Fixed - abutment type; piston having outwardly sliding vanes; packing vanes; regulating.-In an engine or pump having vanes held in contact with the cylindrical chamber wall by loose rings contacting with the inner ends of the vanes, the rings 7 are located in recesses 6 in the end walls 1 of the chamber. The vanes mav be formed of a main portion 5 and a cross-head 9 with a spring 10 interposed between them. The rings 7 may be split like a piston ring. The vane crosshead may be hinged to the main portion 5. A. bye-pass passage 14 may be fitted to pumps and the output be regulated by means of a valve in this passage.
