Systems for alternating-current motors only.- In starting induction motors designed to work at frequencies above the constant frequency of the supply, a frequency-changing machine D placed between the mains I and the motor terminals or bus-bars h is held at rest until the motors have reached a predetermined speed under the supply frequency, e.g. 50 cycles, and is then driven by a coupled auxiliary motor M so as to raise the frequency e.g. to 100 cycles.
