Abstract

258,637. Ruau, F. F., and Molins Machine Co., Ltd. June 2, 1925. Cigarette -making machines.-In a continuousrod machine, tobacco is fed from a hopper 1 on to a U or similarly shaped web 5 of cigarette paper continuously drawn through a trough 2 beneath the delivery opening of the hopper, and the loaded web is carried bv an endless tape 8, independent of the trough, through a U or like guide and beneath a rotatable compression wheel 16, preferably provided with a circumferential groove. Guide members 15, between the hopper and the wheel 16, turn the edges of the web upwards and are adjustable redatively to one another to vary the position of one edge relatively to the other. Mounted on the spindle of the wheel 16 is an arm carrying a wedge-shaped scraper forming a tangential combination of the groove in the wheel and abutting aaginst the forward end of a tapering compression throat 20 leading to folding, pasting, heating, cutting, and delivery mechanism 9 - - 14. The hopper 1 and printing and tipping mechanism 6 are preferably as described in Specifications 249,575 and 251,322.
