Air-heating furnaces.-In a furnace in which products of combustion are caused to pass from a primary combustion chamber a into a secondary combustion, or a heating, chamber b by suction due to injection of air into the communicating channel c, such for instance as described in Specification 185,320, the compressed air pipe e is carried in a refractory block d, adjustable in the channel c. The external diameter of the pipe e is smaller than the diameter of the bore of the block d so as to allow air to be drawn drawn in to cool the pipe e. To avoid eddies, the top of the chamber a is substantially of semi-dome shape and the sides of the chamber b may be sloping or curved. The chamber b is provided with baffles g and with additional air-inlets h.
