Reversing-gearing comprises a pair of friction rollers j, k driven in the same direction as from an electric motor a, and adapted to be brought into driving engagement alternatively with the inner and outer peripheries of a drum p, so as to drive, say, a winding-barrel n in one direction or the other. The motor shaft c carries a toothed pinion b in constant mesh with pinions d, e on parallel stub axles f supported by a carrier g adapted to rock upon the shaft c. The pinions d, e are integral with the rollers j, k, respectively, and the carrier g is rocked to effect reversal of drive by a hand-lever h.
