Abstract

254,193. Lutton, W. J. Dec. 21, 1925. Differential gearing suitable for vehicles comprises pairs of pivoted pawls 26, 27 geared together carried by the driving member or disc 3 coacting with spring plungers 13, 22 carried by the driven members 11, 20. The normal driving configuration is shown in Fig. 3. When either of the discs 11, 20 overruns, the plungers which it carries are guided by the inclines 32 or 35 on the released pawl into their recesses so as to pass idly. The idle pawl is held fast by its fellow. On reversing the drive, each pair of pawls is tilted by a plunger slipping past, and picks up and drives the next plungers following.
