Spring wheels.-A resilient wheel comprises a hub 3 formed with flat exterior faces and keyed to an axle 2, an apertured tube 5 surrounding the hub 3, flanges 9 threaded on the hub 3 and bearing against the tube 5, and collars 10, 11 threaded on the ends of the tube 5 and grooved for the flanges 9, as shown in Fig. 2. Cylinders 15, detachably fitted to the wheel rim, are threaded into sockets 8 mounted in the tube apertures between the collars, and pistons 20, slidably carried in the cylinders 15, are fitted with pistonrods 21 which pass through the sockets 8 and are threaded into thrust blocks 23 bearing loosely on the faces of the hub 3. A leather cup washer 25 bolted on each piston prevents leakage of air during compression. In a modified form of wheel adapted to transmit the drive, flexible means such as toggle-levers connect collars on the apertured tube with the axle.
