Abstract

686,725. Laminated springs. CHAPLIN, W. D., and CRANES (DEREHAM), Ltd. Jan. 11, 1951, No. 853/51. Class 108 (iii). In wheeled vehicles having bodies thereof connected to axles by leaf springs, the latter have plain free ends which are entered into the open ends of shoes connected to the bodies, the surface of the shoe which engages the top of the leaf spring being so shaped that as the load on the axle increases the point of contact of the spring with the shoe travels progressively towards the centre line of the axles. As shown, the ends of the spring 1 are located in shoes 2 secured to the body 3 of the vehicle and abut steel and rubber pads 4 and 5 respectively.
