Abstract

256,604. Schmit, C., and Ramesohl & Schmidt Akt.-Ges. July 27, 1926. Driving; suspending.- The bowl 14 of a centrifugal machine is supported and driven by a spindle made in two parts 8, 1. The lower part 1 is hollow and dips into an oil bath 7. The coupling 2 between the parts 1, 8 of the shaft is constructed to act centrifugally on the oil which rises up the bore of the part 1 when the machine rotates. This action causes the oil to rise up the tube 3, which encloses the part 8 of the spindle, to the neck bearing 4; from this bearing the oil passes down the wall 12, through the central bearing 5, the conduit 15 and the lower bearing 16 to the bath 7. An inspection window 6 is arranged in the lower part of the machine. Packing 9 is provided above the neck bearing, either of the, plates 10, 11 being adjustable. The machine is driven by an electric motor 13. Where a more compact construction is desired the part 8 of the spindle may be arranged inside the hollow part 1.
