Abstract

256,553. Skinner, G. H. April 30, 1925. Spray carburettors. -An axially adjustable nozzle tube E slides in portions F, F<1> of a sleeve located in the carburettor body A and is packed, so as to prevent leakage of fuel, by washers H of cork or similar material compressed around the tube by a spring H<2>. The washers are forced against the tube by bevelled surfaces on the sleeve portions and on rings H<1> against which the spring bears. The part F<1> of the sleeve is ported for the entry of fuel at F<2> and is held in place by the lower part F which is itself secured by a screwed bush G bearing against a ring G<2> and cork washer G<1>. Holes E<1> for the entry of fuel are formed in the tube E between the washers. The upward movement of the tube E is limited by a shoulder E<2> engaging an adjustable stop nut F<3> loaded by a spring F<4>. The invention is described in connection with a carburettor having a suction-actuated piston valve for controlling the main air passage and carrying a needle valve which enters the jet tube E, but is not restricted to such application.
