Abstract
255,605. Sammons, H., and Petters, Ltd. June 13, 1925. Cam-actuated pumps ; stroke, varying; timing-devices.-The fuel pumps for multi-cylinder internal-combustion ergines are actuated by separate cams, a governor controlling the effective height of each cam without axial displacement thereof. The cams or eccentrics g<1>, g<2>, g<3> are mounted on inner eccentrics f<1>, f<2>, f<3>, the cam g<1> being connected by links k to the centrilugal governor c. Pins e<1> in the cam g<1> engage slots j<1> of the form shown in Fig. 5. The cams g<2>, g<3> are similarly connected by pins e<2>. The angular positions of the highest point of each cam are maintained in fixed relationship. The governor is bolted to a disc s keyed to the shaft a whereby the timing may be adjusted as described in Specification 14924/15. The stroke of the plungers p may be manually adjusted by cams r and levers q, Fig. 2.
