Abstract

Regulating delivery by opening suction and delivery valves; regulating delivery by by-passes or return circuits; regulating delivery of two or more combined pumps. - In fuel pump installations for multicylinder internal combustion engines wherein the suction, overflow, or other suitable valves can be actuated so that corresponding engine cylinders may be put out of operation, the control device comprises tappets above the valves adapted to be successively actuated by cams on a cam shaft which can be set so as to cut out some or all of the cylinders. Above each adjustable suction valve b is mounted a tappet c and above them is an angularly adjustable cam shaft e with a cam f for each tappet, the cams having peaks 'of different circumferential lengths and the centres of the peaks being angularly and relatively situated around the shaft. Instead of angular settings of the camshaft, adjustment may be effected by sliding the shaft .which is then provided with wedge-shaped cams.
