Steam regenerative accumulators. - Admission of steam to an accumulator mounted in front of heat consumers is controlled in sympathy with its speed of flow in the consumption pipe, and to avoid pendulum-like oscillations the inlet to the accumulator may be arranged so as not to open until the speed of flow has fallen a predetermined extent below normal. Steam flows from a pipe 1 through a throttle valve 2 to a service pipe 3. If the consumption falls, the valve closes somewhat, in sympathy with the increasing pressure at the measuring-point 4 of the valve. When the quantity of steam passing through the valve has fallen below a certain degree, a valve 7 opens under the influence of a measuring nozzle 6 to allow surplus steam to flow into an accumulator 8.
