Abstract
358,818. Combined cocks and meters. WIRTHENSOHN, F., 76, Burgberg, Schwaben, Germany. Dec. 23, 1930, No. 38712. [Class 1.35.] A combined draw-off beer cock and meter for indicating the total quantity of flow comprises a turbine rotor 6 and a helical guide channel 7 in the plug 2 to guide the fluid to the rotor. The guide channel 7 has the full height of cross section at the inlet 8 and gradually becomes lower and dies away over the rotor in about one turn; the passages are so shaped that a zone of lower pressure is formed at 20 thereby preventing liquid from rising to the meter. The liquid issues through vertical guide ribs, and a stop piece 14 in the outlet prevents tampering by wires from below. A brake is provided for the spindle 5 of the turbine consisting of a radial pin normally held out of action by a coaxial spring but pressed in upon the spindle by a cam-like spring in the shut-off position of the cock. A vent hole of adjustable cross section is provided in the casing for regulating the air required for the effective discharge of the beer.
