Thermal interrupters for the alternate lighting of two sets of lamps comprise two parallel heatoperated contact arms D<1>, D<2> controlling separate lamp circuits and connected together by a link L so that the arms move in unison. the arms D<1>, D<2> may be bimetallic strips as shown or spring strips pressed sideways by expanding bars, and the circuit arrangement may be such that contact at SC<1> or SC<2> short circuits the corresponding heating winding R<1> or R<2> as shown, or alternatively closes the circuit to the heating winding. The link L may be detachable to provide independent working of the two-lamp circuits.
