Abstract
280,338. Lane, G. S. Oct. 8, 1926. Thermal interrupters. - In a thermal interrupter for use in flashing signs or the like, the contact-breaker element consists of a hook-shaped bimetallic strip 37 mounted in a flat insulating plate 16 carried by a slotted bush 2 which is inserted between the lamp 9 and the socket in which it fits. The end-contact 23 of the strip is engaged by a spring contact 24 pressed down by the lamp contact 34 so that the flash period can be varied by screwing the lamp in or out. The heating coil 36 surrounds the strip 37 as shown, and a condenser 38 mav be inserted across the contacts 23, 24 to prevent sparking. The condenser comprises two strips of metal foil coiled between wider insulating strips. An insulating ring 11 is provided to cover the part of the bush 2 which projects out of the socket. Specifications 276,465 and 277,278 are referred to.
