Abstract

195,942. Aktiebolaget Birka Regulator. April 10, 1922, [Convention date]. Thermal switches.-In short-time thermal switches for electric light installations, the thermal switch is contained in an evacuated receptacle. The Figure shows one arrangement. On depressing the push button 10 current flows up the thermostatic strip 3, down a contact spring 11, round the heating coil 4 and thence to the lamp 2. The thermostatic strip 3 bends, the spring 11 following it, and makes contact with the springs 6. After further bending contact is' broken at 11, and if the push button 10 is now released, current will flow to the lamp 2 without passing through the heating coil 4. The lamp will remain lit till the strip 3, in cooling, has bent back so as to break contact with the spring 6. A switch 14 of the ordinary turn type may be connected in the circuit as shown for lighting the lamp 2 permanently. The push button switch, the thermostat switch and the turn type switch may be enclosed in a common casing.
