Abstract

557,576. Thermal switches. ARROW ELECTRIC SWITCHES, Ltd. May 27, 1941, No. 13827/42. Convention date, June 14, 1940. Divided out of 557,543. [Class 38 (v)] In a thermally operated overload switch in which the current passes through a heating coil 14 to cause the bending of a bimetal strip 16 and movement of a switchoperating lever 50, the bimetal strip is shielded from the heating coil 14 by a thin metal plate 22. Excessive heating causes a projection 24 on the plate to engage and short circuit the heater 14. The switch may be of the kind described in Specification 557,543.
