Abstract

198,454. British Thomson - Houston Co., Ltd., (General Electric Co.). March 9, 1922. Automatic circuitbreakers &c., adapted to be closed manually and released either electrically or manually, comprise a contactcarrying member 10 pivoted at 24 and held in the closed position against the action of a spring 11 by a bimetallic strip 14. The circuit includes a heating coil 16 which, on excess current, causes the strip 14 to bend and release the member 10 so that its contact 23 moves away from the fixed contact 25. Movement of a tumbler 12 to the right pushes back the member 10 into contact. Movement of the tumbler 12 to the left causes a rod 13 to bend the strip 14 and release the member 10.
