Abstract

1318760 Automatic circuit breaker ELLENBERGER & POENSGEN GmbH 21 Oct 1970 [27 Oct 1969] 50053/70 Heading H1N An automatic circuit breaker has an electromagnet 2 the armature of which carries a projection 15 which latches a contact carrying member 23, movable by means of push-button 19, into the contact closed position. Deenergization of the electromagnet causes the projection 15 on limb 55 of the pivoted armature 5, to move out of its retaining position so that the contact member 23 moves into the contact open position, Fig. 1 (not shown), under the action of compressed springs 35, 39. The contact member 23 has a stepped part 32 which is engaged by a projection 21 on rod 19<SP>1</SP> when the push button is pushed in so as to move it into a position with its contact 26 opposite, but not engaging, fixed contact 27. The contact member arm 24 pushes away the projection 15, this being in its retaining position, in moving to this position, and on releasing the push button the projection 15 engages the arm 24 and pivots it about rod abutments 22 and closes the contacts. Excessive current causes projection 54 of an adjustable bimetal 47, having heating coil 56, to unlatch the projection 15 from the arm 24 of the contact member 23 and open the contacts. Further contacts 43 are carried by a movable contact bridge 40 mounted on a rod 38 which is engaged at its top end by the contact member 23.
