Electromagnetic switches; contacts.-Electromagnetic switches have the magnet frame and armature formed by stampings, and the armature is connected to the frame by a pin-and-slot hinge. The bearing for the armature is rounded and formed by turning up the stamping of the frame or armature, and a projection on the turned-up part serves as a stop for the armature or as support for its spring. Figs. 1 and 2 show one form wherein the frame 12, formed of a stamping, supports the armature 13 by means of pins 15 on the armature engaging slots in it. The turned-up end 16 of the armature 13 is rounded at 17 and serves as a bearing, while the end 16 serves as a stop for the armature in its unattracted position. The blow-out coil 23 is secured between side-straps 24, also of stampings and designed so as to be interchangeable. Fig. 6 shows a switch in which two contacts are operated by the armature 28 which is slotted to engage pins 32. Here, the turned-up end is formed on the frame 31 and supports the controlling spring. Fig. 7 shows a form similar to that of Fig. 6, except that two coils 34, 39 act upon the armature 28 which carries two contacts.
